Finally he reaches the train station. He sprints to catch the train on a stop. As he hops in, there she is standing right infront of him. Their eyes meet.
"What are you doing here?" he mutters. He doesn't know what to say.
"You too, what are you doing here?" she answers back. Then they exchange smiles.
Sometimes expect the unexpected. Like now. Like her.
He positions adjacent, but not too close, to her. He begins to think about the past. Their past. He wonders if she also thinks of those days. Of those days with him.
The train starts to move.
She looks his way. He notices this but pretends not to. She then looks away. He now begins to look her way. He starts to create a clone of her in his mind. He takes down the details with his eyes. Her long hair. Her chinky eyes. Her thin lips. His mind then does the replication. She seems to notice it. She decides to look his way. He is quick enough to look away.
Sometimes you don't need words to say I miss you. I need you. I love you.
After a few stops and occasional glances, it's time for her to go. Their time is up.
"Bye!" She has to go her way.
"Bye!" He has to go his way.
Sometimes it's easier to say goodbye than to make her stay. Stay with you. Stay in your life.
They leave their smiles for each other not knowing if they will meet again.
Sometimes it's better that way.
